Located on Bunurong land in South Gippsland, Pretty Good Wood is a family owned and run agroforestry business. We grow native hardwood timbers, run a small portable saw mill on the farm, and sell a variety of timber products. To support local wildlife, we built nesting boxes for birds, sugar gliders, and native bees.
Our vision is to create balance: restoring protected native vegetation in the gullies, planting sustainable hardwood timber forests on the sloping hills, and farming on the hilltops. We focus on minimising waste and finding creative ways to use every part of our logs.
With a 1000mm of average rainfall and deep clay-loam soils, the farm offers the perfect environment for growing trees. Our bluegums have have grown to more than 40m after only 20 years. The box valley and scale of our plantation provides the opportunity for a rapid return of these temperate forest giants.
